St. Louis, MO - 4/25/2026 - St. Louis CITY SC and San Jose Earthquakes played a dramatic matchup earlier this season on April 25, 2026, with San Jose pulling out a 3–2 road win at Energizer Park.

San Jose struck first in the 8th minute through Preston Judd, but STL City responded strongly after halftime. Sergio Córdova equalized in the 51st minute, and Marcel Hartel scored just two minutes later to give St. Louis a 2–1 lead.

The game flipped late. Former German international Timo Werner came off the bench and changed everything for San Jose. He tied the match with a penalty in the 69th minute, then scored the winner in the 83rd minute on a volley that stunned the home crowd.
